What We Do
At Urban GreenWorks we provide environmental projects and food security programming to under-served urban communities throughout South Florida. Working with high school youth, at-risk young adults, prison inmates, the elderly, college students, and children from pre-k to middle-school, UGW builds urban farms, designs and plants neglected city spaces with native trees, works to increase our urban canopy cover, develops educational curriculum material and school gardens, and brings affordable, fresh food into inner-city neighborhods through farmers markets.
UGW & Echo-Tech
UGW is now a member of the Eco-Tech Vision Hub site in Liberty City. Eco-Tech is supporting new companies in the field of Green Manufacturing and provides space, marketing, demonstrations, internships for local residents and connectivity to emerging companies. With the help of local community members, we are bringing about a revolution of industrial improvement for future generations to come. We are proud to be a part of this vision for Liberty City!
Cerasee Farm has a one dollar give-away market for community residents in Liberty City from 10 - 1 pm. on Wednesdays. Feel free to come by and see the farm or volunteer to help us plant and harvest.
James Jiler's book "Doing Time in the Garden" continues to serve as an important guide to establishing garden programs for at-risk groups in prison, drug rehabs, detention centers or other institutional facilities. Please contact New Village Press to order your copy today!
